Historical Note
A water mill has stood at Huncote since the Domesday Book. It is believed that Thurlaston Brook was diverted to feed the mill, and dammed to create the mill pond and drive the water wheel, which was housed in the three storey section of the building.
The water mill was converted to steam in the late 1800s, when the wheel was replaced by a steam engine, with the ground grain being used as feed for the horses at the nearby Croft Quarry. When those horses were replaced by mechanised vehicles in the 1950s, the mill finally closed. The mill lay redundant for almost half a century, before its loving restoration and conversion in 2004 into what is a fabulous residential property.

Cabriole legs of square form with carved scrolled decorations and carved scrolled gadrooned feet
Deep moulding of ogee form over with shaped drawers with scrolled bottoms and tops
Each pedestal is matched in shape to the flare on the drawers
Shell motif decorated centre drawer with shaped top
Each of the drawers retains its original classic Chinoiserie design handle with shaped dropper and original escutheon hole and original locks
Walnut veneered onto solid mahogany drawer fronts
Solid oak drawer linings and drawer bottoms
Ogee shoulded top with matched figured walnut veneers
Originally a dressing table, having been converted at some period, to this fine writing table desk
Exceptionally good quality piece of furniture from the Art Deco period
